Rick Garland - Archive 2016

Early Life

Rick Garland was born in Ashford, Kent in 1973. At the age of 18 he went to study at Gemini - one of the premier illustration colleges in Europe – where he undertook four years of rigorous training. After graduation, Garland spent the following 15 years working as a fine art illustrator, where he was represented by two of the UK’s most coveted agencies.

In 2009, Garland turned his attention to his own painting practice. After a few small exhibitions, he connected with Reuben Colley, and in February 2010 contributed to the opening of Colley Ison Gallery. In February 2011, Garland staged his first solo exhibition which sold out entirely. Since then, his reputation has flourished and his work been featured in galleries across the UK. Colley Ison Gallery is very proud to be the only UK representative of Rick's work.
